I read the English Dictionary in short sections, comment on it, make bad jokes, and sometimes sing little songs. I hope it’s more entertaining than just reading the dictionary alone. It’s an evolving project so the letter ”A” had lower quality, plus less commenting and jokes.

#C259 (clout to clown)
Thursday Aug 26, 2021
Thursday Aug 26, 2021
I read from clout to clown.
And yes, the ME "clowe", AF "clou", and the Latin "clavus" all mean "nail" and "girofle" means "clove". The word that looks more like "clove" doesn't (or didn't) even mean "clove" so something interesting happened etymologically.
The word of the episode is "clown".
